Arizona’s Destry Abbott is one of the best all-around off-road motorcycle riders in the world. He’s a legend in the United States desert and holds 10 major championships as well as seven gold medals from the storied International Six Days Enduro (ISDE). He was a factory Monster Energy Kawasaki & Team Green rider for 14 years and won five AMA National Hare & Hound Championships, a tie for most titles he shares with Dan Smith and the late Danny Hamel. Destry has also competed in EnduroCross and in the X-Games.
In March 2014, he opened DA8 Training, a gym and training facility for racers. Destry is married to Charlotte and they have two kids, Kelsey and Cooper, who's becoming an outstanding off-road racer.
In 2016, Destry was diagnosed with Leukemia and received overwhelming support from the motorcycle industry. He fought his battle with cancer and won, and was the subject of an amazing documentary called Strong which is available on Amazon. If you haven’t seen it, you have to watch it.
Destry is one of the co-founders of Speed & Sport Adventures and is one of our distinguished advisors. He has known Mark Kariya and Ken Faught for over 25 years. Currently, Destry rides for KTM and does select races around the country in addition to teaching enthusiasts from all over the globe how to become better, safer riders.
